Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Taper session for Saturday's 800m race. I didn't want to do anything hard because a) I want to taper properly this week and b) my body still isn't 100% right - my right hip flexor is still tight/fatigued and I'm worried about injuring it. Also, still feel very lethargic, even after a good night's sleep. Ned was doing 6 x 300m with a 2.5-minute recovery (which was too intense for me) and Ben was doing 5 x 500m (well he actually did 6 in the end) with a 3-minute recovery. I decided to jump in with Ben after 100m and do some 400s - which I decided to cap at 4 after the 3rd. He was running around 68/69 per lap pace, so I just tucked in behind him and tried to keep as relaxed as possible, while keeping good form. We were hitting 200m (300m for him) in around 32/33. On the last I took over the lead and finished a few seconds ahead of him - I wanted to check how my legs would cope (and also catch Steve Rose!). The first rep actually felt the hardest, I felt flat and almost still full of lactic acid, but seemed to 'break into it' after that.
