Rivington Pike Hill Race

DANBERT Enjoyed this. There was a real carnival atmosphere about it. The race started from the park gates on Lever Park Avenue, and went along Lever Park Avenue upto Old Will's lane, which is a right turn and which runs up towards the pike alongside Rivington and Blackrod School. Above the school the route follows the main farm entrance track towards Higher Knoll farm. Whilst the farm track turns sharp left towards the farm the race itself continued straight ahead up the field track to Georges Lane. I managed to run most of this section , only having to fast walk the particularly steep 100 metres to the gate on Georges Lane. At this point the route up to, and round the Pike became self evident. The race returned by exactly the same route. Coming down so fast killed my legs!!
