Northern Exile Much tougher than I thought, was held up quite a bit at the start and found myself running around people and generally using up more steam than I should have ..... I don't do many trail races and I think my lack of off-road knowledge showed, was well outside prediction and am a bit fed-up that I didn't do better. Never mind - bring on the Guy Fawkes 10. SCUMMA Tough race for a novice tricky start very hard to get past oher competitors early doors you can easily lose a couple or three minutes if you dont get a front line start. What a finish a good half mile hill to fininsh with.
Big thanks to John Calvert of Dewsbury road runners for sticing with me all way round he must have found it hard not to kick on himself.Satisfied with time though on first ten mile. Just seen provisional race result another 44 seconds to add finish 225 of 469 happy with that. Dewsbury Road Runners 1:25:44 1:25:44 1:30:00 1:25:44 52.38
Tutu Much Oh no, I'm so so sorry for everyone who bet on me - it was such a tough race, I had no idea!!! Thought it couldn't possibly be worse than the hilly Guy Fawkes 10 (where I got my PB last year) but it was far far worse. Will remember in future to write notes for anyone thinking of better on me too. I'm learning everyone, still new to this place! Sorry again, I feel like such a failure, boo hoo :( Kirkstall Harriers 1:24:54 1:29:41 1:24:30 1:29:41 54.64
Non-runner Went really well until last 2k when calfs cramped up badly, had to shuffle up the last 2 hills then collapsed with 800 metres to go as left calf gave way and lost about 10 places! Possibly went off too fast, and also didn't take electrolytes (usually run this distance with a camelbak) - dumb because it was so warm. Anyway that aside a perfect day and fanastic race. Stats: 394/496 overall; 119/161 women; 35/47 in age/gender category. Unaffiliated 1:21:56 1:40:17 1:45:00 1:40:17 53.53
toddytyke Pleased with this time. This is a tough, undulating course with a stiff mile at the end. I ran without my GARMIN so no pacing really. Just kept it steady to the half way point and then passed plenty in the second half. Very satisfying. Barnsley Harriers 1:29:35 1:43:53 1:40:00 1:43:53 44.95
