This very nice documentary about the unique ecosystem of Madeira is on BBC iPlayer until 22nd Feb (why do they do this? Seems to defeat the whole purpose) it gives a good idea of what Levadas are like for running along bbc.co.uk |

another for the Cliff Bay - we stayed there in October. Restaurants are good value too (not significantly more expensive than the outside ones). They have a falconer who comes round twice a day with his lovely Harris Hawk to shoo off the pigeons.... |

That man from March
That Harris Hawk spent some time on my balcony in October picking at our sunlounger. Stopped my quiet coffee on the balcony rather abruptly. |
