Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I have a Fenix HP11 head torch and I took it for its first outing this evening. Possibly not the best day/night for a review as it was snowing and raining - snaining. It was a tad like driving in fog. The lower beam didn't help at all and the higher beam bounced back in the woods quite a lot. Would I have benefited using the diffuser? Should I use the diffuser anyway through the woods?

Ah, Ms Chromey! How are you?

Yes, the diffuser does help a bit, especially in the mist. I wouldn't normally use it though.

The alternative is to take the headtorch off your head and hold in your hand - the angle you hold it at means the bounce-back is less glarey.

I had this when we ran up Beamsley Beacon just before christmas - my Alpkit was flppin useless as it doesn't have a diffuser. Should have taken my Petzl.

Petzl Tikka XP2 comes with high, low and flashing and a slide in/out diffuser ... find it does the job perfectly
