Hi Everyone,

Last November, My sister and I were selected to be part of the 36 Scouts in the East Scotland Unit and represent the United Kingdom at World Scout Jamboree 2023 in SaeManGeum, South Korea.

I have been in Scouts since I was 6, that's 10 and a half years now. I have come up from Beavers through Cubs and Scouts all the way to Explorers.

I am currently a Young Leader at my local Scout Troop where I was volunteering with the Scouts but had to change to help out at Cubs due to rugby commitments. In my time at Scouts I have spent over 100 nights "away" camping.
I led a Patrol to the National Camping Competition Finals twice, in which we came 7th and 5th in respective years.

Scouts has allowed me to develop my confidence, make new friends, develop teamwork skills and life skills that I can now use in my everyday life and give back to others through being a Young Leader. I look forward to sharing my Jamboree experience with younger people to inspire them to stay in Scouts.

This experience will be a life-changing and life-enhancing one that will only come once in a lifetime. It will be a chance to experience an entirely new culture and introduce other cultures into our local area. As well as introduce other countries to traditional Scottish culture.

Over 40,000 Scouts will be attending the Jamboree, the camp will last 10 days and on top of this there will be a cultural Big City experience in Seoul, South Korea. During the camp we will have the opportunity to do activities, examples last time are: ziplines, shooting, canoeing and many other adventurous activities. I believe that there will also be culture days, an opportunity to meet new people and learn about scouting and life in other countries. Throughout the camp we will be trading badges and UK contingent gear, allowing us to maximize the people we meet and make friends for life.

To raise these funds, we have held car washes and are holding a quiz night.

Additionally, A challenge I am undertaking to raise the funds is; competing in the Knockburn standard distance triathlon on the 11th of September, 2022. To prepare for this, I will design and follow my own training programme. I am also competing in the Montrose Triathlon to get some practice in. As training I have already raced in the Angus Schools Cross-Country Championship, in which I ran 4k around Monikie Park. My 4k time was 15:24 (A PB) and I came 6th place.

Upcoming Is the Scottish Schools Aquathlon in Glenrothes on the 22nd April.

Between us, we have to raise £7,500 to get to Jamboree. (£3,790 each).

I would really appreciate all donations for my triathlon to help us get to Jamboree.
