Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

Cambridge half-marathon once again. A bit of a mixed bag this one really, but overall positive by the end I think. Wasn't really in the right place for it mentally.. extremely tired and feeling huge fatigue from the past month, plus the right calf niggle was concerning me and playing up. Upon starting I soon realised that even a 2h time was going to be asking too much, and was worried whether I should even be running at all, dreading making the calf much worse. I had put iboprofen gel on it beforehand, not something I'd ever used before yesterday. At about 2.5 miles J caught up with me, so she'd obviously been running much faster and seemed to be wanting to run on faster. But in the end we ran most of the way together which was really nice and a big help. We settled into a steady pace which for me was maintaining if not slightly increasing the pace I'd set off at - overall 09:17 or 09:15 on the Garmin. The calf pain eased at about 8 miles or so, and thankfully writing this a few hours later after some good pasta-refuelling at C's, it's still feeling pretty good. A lot better than yesterday anyway. It was a bit drizzly but not cold, although the wind really got up as we finished so soon got cold afterwards. P gave me a lift home and a hot bath later I was feeling quite good. Slowest ever Cambridge half, but not the worst... that was 2014!!
