Fetch virtual mile August
After the run with the intermediate group, I decided to hit the track and test my legs. The DOMS of last weekend was still a little bit in the system but a couple of strides on the way to the track gave me some confidence that I would be able to run reasonably fast. I told myself to go out nice and steady, not faster than 1:40 for lap 1. Almost did that, 1:39, 1:41, 1:42 and then 1:47 for the final lap with some extra metres. Pace pretty consistent, 6:39, 6:46, 6:52 and 6:39. The benchmark for the mile is 6:42, happy with that. I was hoping for 6:50 in my heavier long distance shoes. I think I could eek out another couple of seconds if I wore my light racers and if it didn't rain. The track was a wee bit slippery in the bends.
