MB99 A very long story that I'll try to keep brief. The airline decided not to send my luggage so an hour before the race I had no kit. Managed to borrow some shorts, trainers (a size too big), socks and t-shirt. This involved a race against time to get to across the city to another hotel then back across to the other side to get to the lake where the race was being held. Wearing a large coat, with boots and a carrier bag of clothes tucked under my arms I jogged up the the start with a whole 3 minutes to spare. I then proceeded to run an appalling race. Lack of sleep, travelling, stress, someone elses shoes and the sheer earlyness of it all (equivalent of 8am UK time), meant my legs refused to wake up. Couldn't break out of a jog, managed to miss all of the mile markers and as my watch was in my bag with all my kit had to idea of time. The finish line appeared before I was even sure I'd reached half way and managed to break into a bit of a sprint. Finished 9th overall but was in good enough shape to finish top 4. However, every cloud has a silver lining, when it came to results time it turned out I was third in the 30-39 age category and was presented with a BRONZE (well glass) medal for my efforts.
