Burnham Beach Race

wrinty This was my 7th race in the Somerset Series and was quite a toughie. Starting on the beach opposite Brean Leisure Park we headed across the sands trying to find firm footing all the way down to Barrow Lighthouse. We then headed into the sand dunes which afforded very little traction and very tiring. It was somewhat a relief to get back onto the beach for the homeward stretch with a very strong sea breeze cutting across the course. I had three runners in my sights over that final mile and although my legs wanted to go and chase them down the conditions would not let me make up any ground and had to settle for 11th place.
