Update : I have just discovered 'PODRUNNER' a whole series of ~hour long mixes at a range of beats per minute - available from the usual Podcast directory via iTunes. Really excellent, not distracting and chose what pace you want to run at. MAde today's 20 miles much better!!!
I have been collecting a list of songs that I like to have on shuffle on my iPod which really make the run better. I am addicted to all kinds of music but only certain tracks work for running.
Current favouite examples are 'Sweet child of mine' which is great at the end of a long run, 'Mannish Boy' Muddy Waters has the perfect beat and is a decent length, 'Bullet in the head' Rage ATM is suitably angry to keep me going, 'Airport' Motors - great beat.
Others are 'Son of a preacher man', ' Boys dont cry' (the cure), Gotta get through this (D Bedingfield), The Katie Perry album esp 'I kissed a girl', Lily Allen (good beats and she makes me smile), The Dubliners and many others.
As I am training for two marathons I need to constantly fill up thos playlist so I am keen to get other ideas.
The Dave Pearce Albums seem to work well for long runs .....as do audio books....
- Try Billy Idol - Rebel Yell & Eye of the tiger by Survivor - a bit 80's & corny but great beats to run to! (neilsy)

|May 2009||olde english||bit of a musical anorak but current faves/recommendations = gas light anthem, the king blues and some smiley poptastic alphabeat (good for hills)|
|May 2009||Rooie||My fav at the moment to keep me going are Hooligan's Holiday and Bitter Pill by Motley Crue. Otherwise I will listen to most things on my MP3 player. I too have Sweet Child of Mine but the trouble is I want to sing along with it which isnt great first thing in the morning.|
