Oscar's Everyone Day

23rd June 2024
In 2021 Oscar the Grouch proposed one day each year where "we unite as a community and EVERYONE records an activity of some sort - a dog walk, a run, a swim, a ride, ski if you want...".

Sadly we lost Oscar in March, so I'd like to dedicate Everyone Day to him. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us Oscar.

Lethargic Started nice and slow, worked out the previous years marthon winner and let him lead me round, 0-5miles in 28, 5-10 miles in 28.12, then kicked it up to the finish.
A good run, as unsure how fit, where I am as not raced over the summer, Cardiff half 4 weeks away, possible PB, but the sub 70 maybe next year!!!

Ally2 free entry. PB is possible on a course I know well or at least place better than last years 30th. Went off too quick and by 5miles up on PB but then a painful last 4miles, got picked off by 6 runners (3 doing the marathon). Good to catch up with Paul L who passed me at mile 12. 35 secs quicker than last year but bad tactics with some lonely running so more to come.. Came 18th. spider2470 Hoping to get under 1 hr 40.. last year was 1 hr 38.51.. Training hadn't seemed to get me close to time I wanted.
About the 8 mile mark I was getting a drink from the station and turned my ankle on a used bottle.. Hopped for a while and nearly cried.. Managed to keep moving but took a couple of miles before I felt confident on it. Really pleased with the actual time. Sobbed a bit when crossed the line with a bit of pain and exhilaration. Chip time I have put on it. 358th from 6,645 1/2 marathon runners .. Do I dare think about sub 1 hr 30. Quakers Running Club 1:33:54 1:33:54 1:40:00 1:33:54 64.16

#runningman 🏃 My first half marathon race since the Coventry Godiva half marathon in 2007.
Looking to initially beat my PB from that day of 1.38.20 and fully expect to do so and then to do anything between 1.36 and 1.37 in order to take at least 2-3 mins off my PB.

caw Much hillier than I thought. Stopped a couple of times to wait for a friend I was running with but at the 9 mile mark set off on my own; maybe could have sub 2 hours? Not to worry really enjoyed the run. PB by a long way, I must be getting fitter! Denby Dale AC 1:49:41 2:02:25 2:02:25 55.50

clare1976 Originally hoped this would be a PB attempt but sprained ankle scuppered those plans :-( sub-1:50 would be fab to restore some confidence. Arse. Not a good one. Wore watch but didn't look at it until after 10m. Felt awful late on and only the threat of not going sub-2 stopped me walking. Spa Striders RC 1:28:16 1:44:45 1:59:59 1:57:49 54.96

runningbean Was just aiming to beat my personal best, that's all I wanted and it didn't matter by how much. I did it with 29 seconds to spare and couldn't have been happier, especially when the first 4 miles were too slow. When I managed a 6.53 in the 5th mile I realised that all bets were off and I just had to go for it. Unaffiliated 1:42:38 1:47:18 1:47:00 1:47:18 54.04

Potsie First ever half marathon for me. Tried to break 2 hours but found this to spoil the run for me a bit because i was concentrating more on my mile split times. Once i fell behind my split times i tried to catch up which tired me out a little and took the enjoyment away from the run.
Overall though i am glad i did this run and felt very proud when met by my 2 kids at the finish line. I will do this run again next year if i cant get into The Great North Run. Unaffiliated 2:08:39 2:09:00 2:00:00 2:09:00 45.00
