Hopefully biking won't make it worse this time (if it actually did make it worse last time). I mean obviously it's not as bad as my actual stress fracture last year, but I could see this taking anywhere from 1-4 weeks to heal probably, which isn't terrible if I can spin and ski on it but we'll see. Gonna go ski around the intervale this afternoon, see how that goes. I just pray to god it doesn't get worse while spinning & skiing bc I can't really aquajog meaning if those make it worse I kinda just have to sit on my ass doing nothing. ![]() |
recovery spin, guess legs were feeling tired from yesterday as only averaged like 13.2 mph on this according to wahoo, oops. Maybe should do a spin down one of these days tho to calibrate it. Or maybe I just suck at spinning, doesn't really matter as long as it gets the hr up tho. Was going to do an hour but then around 50 minutes top of calf behind knee on left side got all tight so called it at 55. Hopefully nothing much, would be v annoying if I couldn't even spin. Somewhat more optimistic about foot, but still not great.

Got zwif...goddamn being injured has never been more fun. I'm sure the novelty will wear off at some point but glad it'll be fun to spin for a while, have a week long free trial but the paid version is only $15/month so definitely a decent investment. Started off easy while zwift was loading up, finally did the spindown to try and calibrate the kickr core, took two attempts but I think it worked and yeah old numbers were definitely wrong. Anyway, last 55 minutes of this were zooming around the intro zwift thing, started off a pretty steady effort, kinda got tired after a bit and it was generally more easy but did throw in 2 sprints on the sprint segment on the map which were very hard, and occasionally went a little more moderate, decent workout overall.

Zwift day 2. Did a big climb out on the south island which was fun, definitely got a good steady effort in and then flying downhill at the end was very fun too. Was mostly getting passed on the climb but would occasionally pass someone which was fun and made it easier to get an effort in. Might try a race on saturday, tbd.

Longo spin today on the surrey hills course in london, very hilly. Got a good workout in though, 162w average according to zwift which is the highest I've been on a ride. Hopefully keeping some fitness with rides like this.

Easy recovery today, averaged only 110w. Tried a group ride out, got there a couple minutes late (hence 58min instead of an hour, didn't really want to do those last 2 min tbh) it was fine, probably good for a recovery effort so I'm not concerned about people passing me and put too much effort in.

FTP test on zwift for today. 20 min easy warmup, some "ramp" efforts, 5 min easy, 5 min @ 200w, 10 min easy. Then finally onto 20 min fpt test where I averaged 220w. 10 min v chill cooldown. FTP was good, first real hard effort (even if on a bike) since the 10k tt I did like 7 or 8 weeks ago. Probably should've done it last week and then started workouts but was kinda just having fun exploring zwift. But having a workout did make the time go by faster which was cool, though next week will hopefully be doing running workouts so may only do one more zwift workout.

First 2 miles were very easy, was happy with how easy the 6:45 felt but the 6:30 did take a bit of effort, next couple miles were fine just slowly ratcheting up intensity, once I got under 6 started to feel like a workout/steady state effort, and then last mile I did kinda grind it out which I probably should've kept it a little more controlled but oh well. First hard effort in 7 weeks or so and coming off last week's injury I'm pretty happy with how this went, think fitness is probably pretty okay which is good. Okay well, set out to do 2 hours but stupidly tried to do it in a group ride that said 2.5w/kg which would be like 150ish for me which I thought was maybe doable, but ofc even at like 160w I was way in the back and 160w was tiring me the fuck out, maybe could've made it to an hour but already was tiring at like 25 min so bailed at 30, but the damage was already done and the remaining 1:15 got progressively slow and felt bad enough by 1:15 (overall) that I told myself only half an hour longer. Legs are kinda toasted, terrible way to do a long spin lol. Hopefully done with >75min spins after today.

Actually made it 2 hours this week! Which is good bc I missed my spin on friday so volume would've been pretty low if I'd only done 90 minutes. Anyway, basically a long recovery ride (106w avg) but nonetheless this long of an effort (even if very easy effort) has gotta count for something.

They definitely provided better traction n the unplowed beltpath & intervale than just running but still wasn't great and my right foot was bothering a good amount and then pretty much felt fine again last mile so think it may have caused issues there too. And had to carry them to/from beltpath which was a little annoying. Probably not really worth using, except maybe if running during/right after a big snowstorm where everything's unplowed, and even then probably only for a short run tbh. Anyway, onto the actual run, it was alright didn't feel amazing and running on snow was kinda annoying. Psoas though was definitely better, yesterday was kinda unsure bc I was running with Wondu so not focused on it but today it was mostly just a slight feeling of tightness and only occasionally actually bothered.
