Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Which is no different to the current system.

...in that 350 people all do have a chance to be the 128 that make it through to Round 1, and their goal in order to do so is to be in the top 128.

Round 0 is qualifying in the table.

As Egnys says, the initial 128 will be generated slightly differently for the forthcoming match. It will still be based on ranking, but to be eligible, players will need to have engaged with the game at some point within the last two weeks. A quick look suggests that this will free up about 11 spots to players outside the rankings 128.

Yes, sounds good, but I think JCB's initial point is probably still valid - someone coming into the game (with 1000 points, in position 350+) is going to take at least 3 or 4 weeks to get into the top 128 - if they win all their matches.

Going straight into the 'knock-out' phase, they wouldn't have to win their 1-v-1 to progress

To include more people from the 350 why not run a 2 x 128 multi grid matches an A and a B grid based on rankings. Pretty sure a C grid could mop up the rest with 64/90 progressing to round 2 so all get to play?

FWIW I'd like to play multigrid but not 1v1 unless I can mute game update notifications. Been on a break forever as I can't play "passively".

But the multiplayer only starts every 8 weeks so unless you join the game right on the week that the multiplayer starts then you generally have a few weeks to get up the ranking table ready for the next game.

R4R - I wanted to make the multiplayer something that people would aspire to qualify for, like most sporting world cups. There are seven weeks between each match, so there's time for new and aspiring players to get their tactics together to launch a qualification bid.

Whilst others want to be able to move the grid more frequently or spin it around, I think I'm probably in the minority of wanting to make it scale it up to cover more area...
