D) Careful now I might be a lone voice but it seems a bit lame just clicking buy on everything each morning and then sell at the end of the day. I’ve got a small portfolio that I carefully select runners to hold for the long term and like picking stocks for real. That’s kind of what I see the real spirit of the game as being I’m up to 16,000 after a year (did own everyone then got to zero then reset) and have enjoyed getting there with a few big hauls from ultras which seem a bit more satisfying rather than just blindly clicking buy on everything. If I’ve bought you, you should consider yourself honoured and have been carefully selected rather than just a mindless click |

I agree with NDWDave. I took quite an interest in people's training when I had to make decisions about which players to buy, but now that I can afford to buy them all I often just click through the list in the morning. Doing that, though, gives me an opportunity to spot if someone's training is consistently up or down and take a closer look. If I had a Buy Everyone box to tick, I wouldn't even have that much engagement with the community arising from Trader.

For me, I’d like the badges but can’t justify the time it would take to get them. Obviously a buy all button would help and I’d use it but it’s not helping interaction with the community. That said, when you can afford all runners your interaction basically stops anyway all you just buy everyone.

I've only just started playing so have a small portfolio at the moment, all of whom I chose for a long hold. It's very satisfying watching their progress. I was confused when I first became traceable why so many people bought me every morning and it only then occurred to me that you can avoid the overnight drops if you clear the stable every evening. |

Perhaps if you use a “buy all” button you pay a price? 10% premium or something like that? As others have said when funds are limited there’s more engagement with the community because you have to decide who to buy. Maybe once you can afford everyone you can start buying people for a second (or third, etc) time (even if perhaps your gains are reduced by a percentage). Would increase engagement, and speed up the march to 1 million in the bank. |

I also see NDWDave’s point. This from my blog in 2021: “When I first started playing the game, I had a longer-term approach in mind and held on to a few runners I was able to sell for 100 points to help them get the Thoroughbred badge. But day trading seemed to be all the buzz and so I eventually switched to that, ruthlessly buying and selling anyone who could help me on my way to the next badge.” That said, I do still have some runners I’ve bought and held onto because they’ve put in a request on this thread at some point in the past. Apart from that, I’m now just stubbornly clicking away for the sake of a couple more badges. I agree with everything Velociraptor’s said above. |

I agree with @Pothunter that buying people multiple times would be best. As it stands, I buy everyone every day so don't really pay attention to what's happening, but that was good early on. If we could buy multiple shares (like how the stock market works), I'd currently have around 80k to make decisions about - and soon I'd buy everyone twice and have much smaller sums to think tactically about who to spend them on each day. The 'buy all' button would work if there was an incentive to still look at who to buy. Without one, it's just turning the badges into an endurance task in remembering to tick boxes rather than relating to anything else. |
