Nice one.

I have a to-do list app with buy and sell on it every day (along with countless other little tasks that I forget if I don't get a nudge). I just have to remember to check the to-do list before midnight.

I also have an alarm on my phone that goes off 10 min before midnight so that I don't forget to sell - I still forget it sometimes though

Hello folks. What do we think about the tactic of automated buying and selling of runners in Trader? Personally, I think it's no different to what happens on the stock market, so I guess it's kind of inevitable. Is it in the spirit of the game? Real-world trading is probably about as cutthroat as it gets, so maybe it's part of it. Whilst doing some other research on the logs, I happened to spot a couple of players employing their code skillz :-)

I’ve always been upfront about having automated my trading, but am happy to turn it off if folks disapprove. I’m now rather intrigued to know who my fellow geek is!

Got to admit I read "Down with this sort of thing" and "I'm down with it" - i.e. chill about it! Nut then I realised it must be the opposite to the first option so down with was negative option not a positive!

I am chill with it though - voted for option 3.

Sorry, to me this is wrong. I think writing your own code to automate or adjust the functions of any of the games is unfair & undermines the integrity of the game. Logically the fair option would be to make the code available to all players at which point the game is pointless.

How To Play
As a trader, your job is to pick the runners that you think will increase in value.

You start with 1000 credits, and can use these to purchase shares in runners. If you think their mileage is about to drop, then it's time to sell.

Runner values are calculated based on the total volume of running mileage completed in the last 90 days. Values are recalculated as soon as a runner has logged a run.

Runners get a notification when you buy shares, but not when you sell them.

The value of a runner can go up or down, but don't threaten them. Have fun!
