Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That's what I think rather than chasing it. I ran my half and 10k races without pressure and they went well.

I did it today at parkrun! 19:40. I changed my strategy from last week and went out fast and tried to hang on (not the best strategy but thought I'd do something different to last week's plan of even pacing). First k way to fast!! Lots of my club mates there too so I had an idea of who I should try to run with.

Congrats. That is the way to do it. Start too fast and then hold on for dear life.

I've done it both ways. My pb came from an even paced one. It was horrible. It's almost more comfortable the go out and die way, because you get the buzz of having gone out too fast, but having banked time and thinking wow imagine if I ran 3 miles like this

When you do it even paced, there is no room for error and you just feel your strength and energy ebbing away. My pb relied on me being overtaken with 200m to go by a friendly rival and chasing and getting into a three way tie on the line.

I can remember my first sub20, I went to the same parkrun 27 times in a row to get it 😃
I started at 29 minutes and just whittled it down.
It's a wonderful time for any runner to achieve, and for me it was one of my running highlights, as I started running later in life.

My tips, pick somewhere flat, run with a pacer, even splits and pick up for the last km. Good luck
