Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Steve that is an impressive improvement over a short period! Same as you it is one of my highlights so far. Going from a few years ago thinking it was an impossible time, to finally doing it a couple of weeks ago felt so good!

@peanut I went from zero running to 5k in 4 months or so, started doing parkrun and just kept at it, I'd also lost 4 stone over 9 months basically by running consistently and not eating biscuits. I improved a lot later on by specific training, better shoes and a proper warm up routine. I can't emphasize enough, learn a better warm up routine that works for you.

Finally a sub 20, ran 19:58 at Alexandra parkrun yesterday. The wait for the results was a long one! First time I have hit 75% age grade as well so buzzing.

My 5k pb has stood since 2016 at 20:21, Ran a 20:25 at a local 5k race a couple of weeks ago so thought I might stand a chance. Only been under 20:30 3 times (well 4 now)

My son also smashed his pb of 20:18 and ran 19:17.

Well done @Sprout, both to you and your son too! I'm in a similar situation to you, with a 5k PB from 2016 that I hope one day to have another shot at. Sub-19 next?! :)

Congratulations to you and your son, Sprout. That's awesome!

I think I'm going to hang out here for the foreseeable future. I ran 21:01 today, I'm on the verge of breaking 21 so the long-term goal is to break 20 eventually.

Cheers all.

Next challenge is to do the sub 20 at my local parkrun which is a little more undulating, nothing that bad though

Welcome @tipsku . You're on the right track.

I've only gone sub 20 once and so hoping to do so again this summer to prove it wasn't a fluke!
