Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

daviec Not ready to race so just ran it untapered (did a large intervals session on Tuesday and a 10k tempo on Thursday) as a long run with a quality section at the end. Prepared for the heat by taking the camelbak and tried gels for the first time which went well and will be a future addition to my marathon races.

First 16 miles easy (7.22/mile) then steady for the last 10.2 (6.40/mile) for a 3.05.22 finish. Happy with that as basically just ran to percieved effort which I reckoned before hand would have been more like 7.45s and 6.50s. Meant I finished 10 minutes early though and accidently an SB in the process. Body handled it just like the hard trainnig run it was, and so no need for recovery. Continue with full training

Great day out and brilliant to finally enjoy a marathon all the way through for once :)

MrMarcus really pleased with this, steady 7:30's all the way to 17 miles (a hip injury picked up earlier in the race caused me to walk on a number of occasions) but picked it up for a final mile 7:18.
Overall, with an injury and in the hot conditions a very good run

bal Felt great until about 18 but then the heat, the sun and the general marathoness got to me. Legs turned to treacle, feet turned to cement, head turned to mush. Did well not to walk but must have been passed by 500 people in the last 5 miles.

FunkyPOM After walking quite a bit of the second half of London I wanted to do another and run all of it, plus beat my previous target time of 5 hours.
London 1st Half - 2h26
London 2nd Half - 3h01

Beat the 5 hours but couldn't mainatin 10 min mile in the heat. Beta PB by over 30 mins so happy with that.

Sprout Hot day, still had chest infection & lack of training in last 6 weeks meant I knew I had to take it easy. Took regular walk breaks early on through the water stations which I beleive helped with the latter miles. 18-22 was tough & chest hurting with breathing, quads & hams starting to give me a little grief. Last 3 were comfortable but very slow pace. Support all around the course was amazing, hosepipes were very nice & lots of sweets/drinks being handed out.

Next up Liverpool & hopefully fitter. 4 hr will be tough, 4:30 is doable.
