From reading about the Italian earthquake I have discovered that an earthquake in Sicily in 1693 created a tsunami 15 metres high.

(I'm always surprised that Southern Europe is tectonically active. Should be, thinking about it logically, but you kind of expect old and long settled places to be more stable. So much of the Algarve coast still looks pretty raw and that was from quake about 200 years back.)

That the brand "Matsui" is not a reputable Japanese manufacturer despite the rising-sun logo, but an own-label invention of Dixons for products without a single Japanese component.
