LMH/DT - yes probably a touch of IBS. I do take a probiotic, someone recently recommended a different one to try......I was thinking getting something like buscopan and taking for a few days before a race......tea, and alcohol flare it up, coffee destroys me, so probably an IBS thing, certain foods too. f the buscopan worked at flare ups then I could approach GP. Will avoid triggers for next few days. DT - there was a fast r release today, probably all gone now......I intend to try some nitro elite 3 which will be a decent price by the time I need a new pair of race shoes. |

Buscopan is basically good for relieving stomach cramps rather than the more inconvenient symptoms. It would be much better to see a GP and get a diagnosis - they should want to rule out things like bowel cancer with recent, persistent bowel habit changes. If you do want to try an OTC remedy I'd probably start with Colpermin. It really depends what your main symptoms are. If you want to email and discuss it you have my address or can mail through here of course.

I mainly have to dash for the toilet at short notice, or the bushes if I'm running. I'll have a look at Colpermin.

When I first came down with IBS I said to Dr I hadn't been right since a really bad bout of gastroenteritis. She said issues like that are often a trigger for ibs so likely that's what the food poisoning has done for you. I had a flare up last week, first in ages. We went out for some beers late afternoon then ordered a papa John's pizza for dinner. We don't usually eat take out food, not least a big nasty greasy pizza and my stomach was all over place for a few days. Had to stop running a few times mid running as the discomfort of the wind jumping about was too much. Seems to have 90% settled now. Been taking the mebeverine hydrochloride to settle it. Definitely worth a trip even to pharmacist as they can probably deal with it without appointment. |

Started feeling a lot fresher here about 5pm. Quite a pleasant temp now, got windows open trying to cool house down before bed.

PNE.. it always seems a long way back after a lay off but it should be worth the journey for you. FWIW I thought York was a slightly easier course than Chester but not much in it. Gerard .. nice story about your Dad. There was a former Irish International runner who lived a few doors from me. Jimmy Craven - I can't remember his marathon time but it was in the 2.15 region. Sadly deceased now but I know his son well who lives & works in the town. He once finished 2nd in a 20m race to Jim Alder in 1.43. TR.. sorry to hear about your tummy troubles, hope you can find a solution. DT19.. good luck with your wind down to the Newcastle race. It was much cooler and cloudy here today, around 20 degrees. LMH.. congrats on another 20m bagged, yes keep an eye on those aches! 10k run this morning, warm but much more comfortable than yesterday. Mrs Wardi was back from parental duties and fancied a bike ride so 25m done this afternoon. Strange how the wind direction changed from due South yesterday to North/NE today. A small stream I run over regularly has got very shallow and has actually stopped flowing. Rain is required! |

A few folks said that the food poisoning might trigger IBS as it was so aggressive. It's going to rain here tomorrow apparently. |

How far do you walk after you run LMH? Is this a part of your regime or for some other reason? Sound uncomfortable TR. And anything that' hstops you drinking beer has got to be annoying... DT I talked to a fast guy recently who claimed he'd set PBs at every distance with the fast Pumas- would like to get a pair when the price comes down. Regarding the race Sunday I think it will be a decent fast course. It's always colder up here. I think we peaked at 20 degrees today and by this evening I needed a long sleever for my track sesh. Nice double Wardi and good to get out with your missus- I'll be out for a jog with mine tomorrow morning. Trying to shift some holiday flab. Busy few days ahead. 10k tomorrow evening which I'll run at 90% effort. Mile race Friday (if I feel ok), easy parkrun Saturday then watching DT disappear into the distance on Sunday. My M60 field foe Sundays 10k is also stacked, so finishing in the top half would be a result. |

Two down @Little Miss Happy, 3 to go then. Blimey @OO62 That’s a busy race schedule. Why the 10K tomorrow? Surely it’s just going to compromise your other races. 10K over lunch was close but not the raging furnace of yesterday so pace was another 10s a mile faster. Then 4.2M recovery with my daughter this evening. That was her longest run to date & she enjoyed it 😎 I look forward to running with her again over the Summer. She’s signed up for Cardiff 10K in September & is keen to break an hour so she’s got some motivation. She even did parkrun in Bristol with a monster hangover Saturday. |
