Morning Lots to catch up on Hello PNE hope you get to do a autumn marathon That’s a daunting race schedule OO62 enjoy the pie and peas Good news on another 20 LMH That swim sounds amazing Gerrard Great mileage DT Nice to see your getting some training in TT Sorry to hear about the tummy troubles TR. Touch wood mine as been fine last coup Amazing mileage Ouchie Nice double training day wardi Enjoy the festival FJ. I must apologise to LMH for disturbing her sleep by attending download over the years and Monsters of Rock in the good old days. June was my biggest months mileage since Oct last year (nothing compared to some of yours but happy). Need to do the same in July and hopefully a bit more. From Sunday I started doing my runs in the morning after work. Helped with the temperature and also felt less pressure to fit one in around tea and work. Sunday was 90 odd minutes to low HR. Monday 60 mins to low HR and Tuesday was 65 mins including 8 x 3 mins at sub LT off 1 min recovery. Enjoyed the runs especially Tuesday morning in the slightly cooler temperatures. |

Good going riggys! OO62 - I find it helps to keep everything moving. Call it a cooldown. Hope your daughter stays keen FJ. TR - you could try regular loperamide. It's not how it says to use it on the pack but it was the first thing my consultant recommended (didn't work for me). DT19 - mebeverine works much the same as buscopan. Right knee still niggly this morning. Hope a non running day sorts it. |

No festival for me this year @riggys99 Though Monsters of Rock was my first festival back in 1987: Metallica, Dio, Anthrax & WASP. I hitched there solo. My daughter got engaged at Download a couple of years ago which was her & her now hubbie's first festival together. I usually help with set-up/take-down so have minimal/no commitments during the actual festivals @TippTop Hope the active recovery does the trick @OO62 & @Little Miss Happy |

Blimey this thread moves quickly! I was 'diagnosed' with IBS in 2016, but IBS isn't an actual diagnosis. It's an agreement that something is wrong, but they don't know what exactly. I've had cameras in places cameras should not be and was sent to an NHS dietician who put me on the Fodmap diet (which made it worse). I still have issues but I really saw a huge improvement when I went vegan. I was already dairy and egg free, due to severe intolerances, but removing meat made a massive difference for me. Stress makes it flare up, plus being a middle aged female means added bloat issues, but on the whole it's better than it was. I should say that Fodmap works really well for many people, just not for me. It was too stressful! I got up early yesterday to get my track session done before it got too hot. Sadly some poor chap had fallen off a bridge and the road I needed to use was closed. It took an entire hour to get to the track but I was still done before the worst of the heat. This morning when I got up at the ungodly hour of 4.45am it was still humid, but when I left work at 10.30am it was almost cold. 15 degrees and fairly calm. Would have been perfect for a run but I needed to go back to bed. Now it's hot and blowing a gale, but I have clients this afternoon anyway. Major plus though, I will be dropping the hideous early shift from August and might actually be able to get a sensible sleep schedule. *dances round the house* *trips over something due to excessive sleepiness* There's no update on the chap who fell off the bridge, but I gather he survived. |

I haven't eaten meat for over forty years CC2 so no idea what that would do to me but lovely veg like spinach and broccoli is almost a no no for me now, fatty food causes issues, I'm incredibly wheat intolerant but fortunately going dairy free didn't make any positive difference. I now take three consultant prescribed meds which mostly make it manageable but don't stop me having problems. Stress definitely exacerbates it and sometimes it's worse for reasons I really can't work out. Glad you're getting a shift pattern that suits you better. Blowing a hooley here now too but still quite mild. Sorry to hear that your knee is also playing up OO62 hope the rest day sorts it for both of us. Thanks FJ. I'm hopeful but not confident. |

TR - I'll second Colpermin. It's basically peppermint oil. I find mint tea helps as well. Most doctors will ask you to keep a food diary, noting symptoms, for a week or two, so if you're going to go see one about it starting the food diary now will save you time. We've got a ceiling fan-light which is a lifesaver in this weather. One of the best purchases I've ever made. You can also reverse it during winter to draw warm air up. OO - congrats on the mileage pb!! Gerard - it was over the last 9 weeks including taper (I never really tapered a whole heap). LMH - 20 in this weather!! Top work. There needs to be a Wayne's World "We're not worthy" emoji for stuff like that!! DT - by the time my wife and I got together hers were mid teens, with my 2nd youngest not far behind, so it wasn't too bad (though teenage years have their own travails!). Plus I was never very good at sitting still anyway. Looking good for Sunday btw! Nice paces. Wardi - it's dry as a bone here too. The river we usually put the dog in to cool down has dropped by several feet over the lsat few weeks. It was supposed to rain heavily here today but it just got muggy and uncomfortable instead. I think LS is having everybody else's share of it. I managed to fit a light workout into 3.x miles this morning. 1m either side of 6 x 1min progressive off of 1min jogs. The progression was more accidental as I've got no idea what shape I'm in so kept pushing a little more, and then just enjoyed stretching my legs out for the last two. - 6:16, 6:04, 6:01, 5: 58, 5:39, 5:34. More weights to the mix too. |

I suppose IBS symptoms in older runners is no surprise given how aggressive running is on the stomach etc........I have some colpermin to start, and will try to avoid known triggers.

Hope it helps TR. Probably easier for me than most on here TT though I think Gerard also likes to run when most people would say it's too hot. |
