Wardi - good thst he's on the mend. DT - I bet that was a warm 15m. Ouchie - 21m is good going in this weather too. LMH - you've done a lot if double digit runs now, you must be feeling fitter and more confident? I did a minimal 5m today. |

Not surprised you were cooked at the end of your LR @Ouchie There’s a massive climb & you did a 4:40 mile midway 🤣 Sounds promising @wardi I was premature with my legs recovery status. Very stiff this morning & absolutely smashed now as I did a recce of my relay leg which is next Saturday. 12M of trails with over 1500’ in sweltering heat. Easy days til then. |

Sounds like good news all round Wardi. It wasn't too hot yesterday for my run though I did need a lot of rehydrating. Your legs should be beaten into submission soon FJ. I need a few more twenties under my belt to feel anything like confident TR. Lovely to have the beach for after Ouchie. Nice miles. What's your next race DT19? |

Wardi - glad to read your FiL is doing ok now. Pretty neat for the 12 year old! OO - the great training continues. Retirement is suiting you! riggsy - good stuff on the first parkrun for a while and continued positive achilles reports! TR - good work getting 15 in yesterday. What are you hoping for at the HM? No intention of chasing Jr. I just want to go for an easy run or two with him without slowing him down too much. LMH - you're giving yourself every chance; keep at it. Jr is home until mid-August. It'll be the last holidays we'll have him home for this much of so we're making the most of it. FJ - that relay sounds like it might be a touch challenging! Hopefully you don't melt! Well parkrun. Joolska - that sounds pretty epic (even for somebody with water issues). That kind of camping sounds ace too. Gerard - looks like training is trending upwards. Some beautiful countryside around my neck of the woods (small town on the borders of Tipp, Waterford, and Kilkenny), but Cork and Kerry are even better again. DT - some very nice sessions over the last week! OO62 - I hope the sun heals those wounds. LS - good to see you. What a nightmare with the tractor cutting through the cable! We've got continual issues here with broadband and signal, despite being in suburbia. The super fast cables were getting laid around the block a few months ago but somebody complained about them digging up the road so they had to stop. Unfortunately for me they stopped one house down! I'm due to call them today to try get them out. I'm being very careful post virus, particularly as I'm probably the most unfit I have been since I first started running (18.5 years ago!!), so my aim was simply to move really. Ended up with 5 runs of 2m, and one of 3m, across Mon-Sat, with 5 weights sessions Mon-Fri (different body part each time). I'd intended one more gym session but got caught for w**k Saturday night/Sunday morning and was a bit tired and strapped for time. Out this morning for 3m steady-ish (7:08), and in the gym later. Probably not doing much other than standing directly in front of the fan though! Camping - always a fan, though I'm probably more in favour of a bit of comfort now. One of the kids is camping at a festival for the first time and I'm very jealous (of both the festival - Truck - and the camping there). Even if not camping I do have some upcoming gigs - a night of the Marvellous Festival (cover bands in a country park near us, and one of our first dates for Mrs TT and I), and then in November I'm going with 4 of our kids, and a future son-in-law for The Offspring. All non-camping, though my Mum and I are talking about Glastonbury '27 (fallow year next year), which would be my 50th and her 70th, and would be pretty epic! |

wardi, sounds positive re the run, particularly as when it cools it should feel easier again! Ouchie, great 21m in the heat! FJ, sounds like a tough run and will be tougher in a race. Is that the Cotswold way relay? TR, it was warm by the 2nd half, felt OK first hour. TT, sounds like you are operating sensibly post virus. I am looking forward to the gym later for the aircon. How many kids do you have, i note he reference to 4 of them in the context of that not being all of them? I'd love to go to Glastonbury but be dropped in and out each day so I didn't have to spend the night there! I'm off to see Oasis at Wembley end of July. I say that with crossed fingers as my mate has got them from someone who knows someone etc and we've not had any tickets yet! 30 mins s and c this morning then 5m over lunch. Gives me 236m for June, which is my highest June, beating the 235 last June. Spin later. |

LMH, I have a local 10k and 5k penciled in later in July. I haven't entered either yet as I am waiting to see how I perform on Sunday first.

Forest - no surprise that double roughed Yr legs up TT - short runs and wright's is good fitness work.......HM hope is to run strong, longest race since Oct. DT - is it Newcastle 10k this weekend? Might be a bit cooler up there? Was even warm here for my run home at 5pm. 5m to bring up 231m for June, which is very low for me........but the aim was to try to stay fit and healthy for a while......I do wonder how I'm going to race a HM off this at times though. |

Wardi - glad to read your FiL is doing ok now. I tried glamping a few years ago. Hated it. Lol. I like 4/5 star hotels. OO - 80 miles is mega. Not sure I could go to the beach and not swim. Riggys - Well done on the parkrun. A good benchmark for you. TR - Well done on the 15 and easier shorter run. Re the mileage. My June total was 207 and I'm mara training. All relative but 231 is decent. Have things improved on the stress front? LMH - I'm hoping to do 6 *20 milers for my mara block. I feel I need to do that, as I lack natural endurance. Think the most I've ever done is 2/3 maybe and that wasn't enough for me to run a "quick" time. What would you usually do? If you can c/f this to Jersey you will be in a very good place. Can you do hills where you live? Joolska - very wholesome stuff. I love the though of kayaking like that but I did in France 3 years ago, kayaked about 10k down a river in Loire and it crippled my back. My wife did not have an issue but funnily my son did too. It put me off it. TT - glad to hear you are back doing some running. Low 7m is a decent clip. I am unfamiliar with Tipp and Waterford, actually a lot of Ireland. My father's late friend was from a place called Rarecross in Tipp. I wonder if you know it? I'm looking forward to driving through the various counties. DT - I thought this year's Glasto was poor with a few exceptions, Snow Patrol, Alanis Morissette, Lewis Capaldi. OO62 - looks like you are having a great time in Mallorca. LS - I hear you re slowing down. It's all relative I guess. I was never that quick to start with but one day when we get out of bed, it happens to us all. For me, it's a case of accepting it and pushing myself to my limits and most of all, enjoying being fit and I just love running for the sake of running too. It has brought me so much in my life, took it up properly late 2010 aged 37. My Dad was a runner and he was fast (ran 31:10 for 10k) and he inspired me to do it. He still runs about 100k a week aged 71. Cool running story from the late 80's. He was training in the Phoenix park (Dublin) and said he could hear a runner following him for a few miles. Turned out to be Eamonn Coghlan. He pulled up beside him and they had a chat and Coghlan said that it took him a while to reel him in and that he ran well. Next minute he just took off. My Dad said he was running close to 5;xx miles but he disappeared into the distance as if he was jogging. Forrest - you do some full on stuff. You seem to be able to cope. My body can only take the odd hard sesh nowadays. Nice park run time. 51 miles for me last week. So, fairly consistent with the past 4 weeks. Did a fast rep sesh on Friday evening (8 x 1 min hard with 3 min jog recovery) and that seemed to hinder me a bit on my long run yesterday. 19 and a bit miles with 900ft of elevation gain and in a very unconventional way, ended up re routing along the way to end up back coastal and had a sea swim at 16 miles and then completed my run. 33c here atm as we speak. Feels like Spain. Rest day today but strolled to the beach on lunch and had a quick sea dip. BBQ now to make the air feel hotter. Fillet steak, jacket potatoes, corn on the cob and a Greek salad on the menu tonight. |

Yep CWR again @DT19. I completed my 10th & final stage in 2023 so I’m going round again. In the same order so far too. Last year was deliberate as having got lost the first time I was hoping for an improvement on leg 4 last year but legs 3, 4 & 5 all changed for ‘24 due to the pub closing down along with its car park being fenced off. My time & pace were better but as it’s 1.7M shorter now it’s irrelevant. On leg 8 this year. In 2013 I raced it at 7:56 pace. I started at 10:45am & ran 11:06 pace on Sunday. No way I’ll be bettering my younger self starting at 2:45pm, but I should be able to get the 12M done in the low 1:5Xs Good to hear from you @TippTop. Sensible path to fitness. I love festivals but after working at them most/all Summer for the last 10 years I‘m taking a fallow year to focus on fitness & 🤞avoid Covid. Planning on plenty of camping out though. Never been to Truck but my brother was a regular & used to rave about it. 10K at lunch was more heat acclimatisation & brought up 204M for June. I passed the 1,000 miles in ‘25 on Saturday too. Pleasingly the legs felt ok & I was slightly quicker (8:57 vs 9:07) for a marginally lower HR than I was Tuesday &/or Thursday of the week before last despite the heat being even more severe. |
