Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’ve been doing Oprah/C25K type things - increasing long runs and short walks. Works for some (Sue is out doing 14min run 1 min walk as I type). Not working for me. Just did a couple of miles of 60/30 which was quicker and easier than last time out when I did 180/120.

I've noticed similar previously - can go quicker on shorter intervals even with a slightly lower proportion of running overall

Will be using RWR to start again soon as foot just about healed.

If only all the cool kids realised how great run:walk is.... but perhaps not ;-)

Seriously, Run:Walk is great. Being able to run faster at the end of a 48-mile race and suffering no cramp is entirely down to run:walk.

I’m recovering from injury but still hoping to do an ultra in a few weeks. My plan will be Run/walk from the start. I was thinking a 4:1 minute ratio (I don’t find less than one minute works for me). However I did 7 miles today at 2:1 and was interested to see my pace was only 2 seconds a mile slower than at 4:1 (albeit that was a 13 mile run- but steady paced). Now wondering if a shorter run might be better!

I'm currently doing 75s/30s to keep my HR at Maffatone level. It's working well for me. 17.5 miles a couple of weeks ago and my legs hardly felt it at all.

I was going to try 75/30 tomorrow since my Garmin won't do 60/20.

I must get back to this. Did an hour and a half's run last week, with occasional and randomly-introduced walk breaks, and would probably do better with something more systematic even if only 9:1.
