Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I have dabbled a bit over the past 6 weeks with different ratios, intending to build up to 4:1 or maybe 5:1 but only got up to 90:30 (secs). I have a calf issue which seems to be triggered when doing more than 60 secs so I had to change plan. I'm now doing 30:30 and it's going ok. Slow but ok.

GM great you've found something that works and are making good progress - I have similar calf issues.

Was surprised I managed first mile continuous at Parkrun before dropping down to 25:70 rest of way a few weeks ago and was fine. Feeling boosted tried 60:60 on a later run and very stiff calves, and other bits, felt close to injury.

Am currently looking at pushing the run intervals up towards the minute mark - 1 run a week, Park-running like above if feels OK and as many easy runs with usual short run intervals otherwise, hoping I may build up eventually.

Thank you, both. I'm up to 2.5 miles now - it will soon be time to try parkrun! Once I conquer 5k, I'm going to try to increase the running pace.

You’ll get there GM :)
I have been running continuously when I’m late and run-walking randomly when I have longer to spend. It’s much easier running longer now it’s cool :)

I’m going to call this approach Intuitive Running. Who will buy the book I’m going to write about it? :)

I did 180/120s today (link explanation for Glenn to get indignant about to follow). It worked really well, much to my shock.

Does this work?

Thanks for the training comment Glenn. Indeed, and yet also not. I felt like I was running rather than just bridging to the next walk break.

Nice greppers

Like the Intuitive Running Fleecy, where do I buy it?

Tonight did 4 miles - running until hitting 80% of HRmax, walking until 20 beats lower then running & so on - worked out between about 30:60 and 25:90, nice mixing it up with a non time specific control

Good link. Note the point about cadence.
