Another 80% sleep score. My sleep was less broken last night, but I am very tired this morning and my eyes feel like piss-holes in the snow. |

Sigh
Well... Sleep score of 67, "Short, plenty of deep." I woke at 4am as the room was stuffy, opened some windows, and once my mind had stopped processing all its' waking thoughts, I decided to try and get back to sleep, and just for fun set the 'nap' function going. I fell asleep but was woken 21 minutes later by the watch sending me an alert whilst napping. I set another nap going and grabbed another 12 minutes. Back awake at 6:24am, still before anyone else. So, having told me my sleep was short, how does Garmin respond to this? "Pay attention to your napping habits, as multiple naps during the day will most likely disturb your sleep rhythm." FFS! |

Ok Garmin Faithful (that’s you lot) explain me this: how on earth does a fairly basic Garmin calculate your VO 2 max?

Mine is frankly ridiculous as I don’t do endurance stuff. 39, ‘superior’ for age and gender. Fitness of a 20 year old. I think NOT. I mean I know not! Have I left a car journey in there or something?

Am not humble bragging - I know I’m quite fit in many ways - just not that one!

See this is a curious thing My fitness age is 47 so 5 years under my actual age and it says that’s as good as it will go But @jennywren has a much bigger difference Re VO2MAX I assume it takes all the data it knows and guesses! |

It's likely similar to the way 'Daniel's Running Formula' does. For a reasonably well trained athlete, there is a decent correlation between max sustainable pace and V02max. It's probably not going to be great if you're working entirely anaerobically, or over ultra distance, but for predominantly aerobic distances it can be reasonable. Garmin probably does more with the HR data available (max HR is considered an important metric in the estimate), but the basics make sense for most people. |

I got another high stress notification and that I should do some relaxation breathing (or something on those lines). OK, it was while one of our directors was telling us about our jobs being restructured for the umpteenth time in rather an unsympathetic tone.

I've decided to stop wearing my Garmin overnight. The "morning report" doesn't give me any useful information and I've been getting a bit of itchy eczema on my wrists from wearing it. I left it off last night. This morning I got a Sleep Streak badge. I'll let the initial withdrawal symptoms settle before deciding whether to go back to just wearing it to measure my runs. |
