Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

RH a properly insulated camper is a lot warmer than a tent, particularly if the pop-up is down (that is essentially a tent anyway) and unless I've got wet and cold whilst out I rarely use my heater in what I would consider normal camping months (mid-April to late September). But I use my van 12 months a year and often park-up in some fairly exposed and high locations. In the December with everything frozen outside my heater is a must. I never have it on overnight but I can flick it on with an out stretched arm from my sleeping bag and 5-10 minutes is enough to make actually getting up a lot more pleasant at 5 or 6 o'clock on a winter's morning before a race start!

Our van is a T4 so no pop up! I found the pop up colder when insurance sent us one as a courtesy vehicle!

We camp in ours year round and only use heating in the colder months!

Thanks FF,
I can’t see me getting Husband to sleep in a van over the winter, so maybe a heater can be scrubbed off my essentials list :)

Also it’s surprising how warm you get just boiling a kettle 😂

I'd put that heater back on the essentials list straight away RH. When you get back to your van, cold and wet after a run out there's nothing like thawing out with it on full blast. Also very useful for drying wet kit.

A heater is essential if you want to use the van year round - summer is such a short season these days.

I would say it is essential too, get more use out of the van with one. Even if it is just going to the beach in the winter and having a cuppa after a cold walk

We use our heater 9 months of the year easily. Sometimes 10 or 11. Mostly Highland Scotland so it can be frosty even into June and by now the evenings are fair chilly. I'd get a heater.

To b fair I think it’s just going to be me and the tent for another year yet - just thinking aloud

There might be a few 2nd hand vans on the market in a year's time, RH, and a bargain to be had, once abroad holidays are back to normal.
