The story so far: Back in mid-October there was some chat about the guilt some of us have at taking breaks, initiated by ITG. fetcheveryone.com/forum/who-squares-wins-60346/2093 I weighed in later, and there was some positive noise for some small cost to taking a break, including more sophisticated options. To see if consensus existed, I put together a poll (8373) with broad categories. Of "non-wasted" votes, 48% were in favour of a simple 1 to 3 points per week, with zero (i.e., like it is now) being the next most popular vote (22%). As promised, the follow-up poll below focusses on the most popular range, but I've kept the status quo in there just in case (plus the obligatory active abstention option). As I said before, this will all be up to Fetch. This will only lead to a feature request in the first instance. |

Absolutely against changing this. My reasons are already noted on feature request 818 which seem to be the same thing.

Interesting week for me this week. Currently have a 31 point lead over my opponent after knocking off 3 corners today BUT he tends to do morning runs so may snatch a win tomorrow. I'm physiologically incapable of getting up to do the running before work. |

WSW is a wonderful thing, and encourages players to explore what is on their doorstep. It can be addictive. Breaks can be taken for all sorts of reasons, but penalties for breaks are really outside the ethos of fetch. Breaks shoukd be seen as part of the game and not penalised. It's a game FFS.

Having originally voted for a penalty I’ve now changed my mind and voted for 0 above. If it ain’t broke....

Thanks DS for setting up the poll and gauging people's opinions! It does seem that we have quite a range of views on here. I don't think I have a strong view either way, but my preference would be for losing a point a week. If you don't play fetchpoint for a bit, then you quite quickly rack up negative points from those pesky bugs. If you stop playing conquerise, after a year you lose your zones. I feel that losing a modest number of points in a break is similar in this game. Huge disclaimer - I've only played this for 3 weeks! |
