Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

:) I also have one corner (although getting it meant I missed my Fetchpoint bug :( )

I think I can get one of the others, but I'll need some careful grid repositioning to get the other two

The multiplayer final appears to be a strict north - south divide!

I am toying with moving my square to the town I work in for the winter as it has a lot more streetlit areas than my village. But it's impossible to avoid either an area of the Moray Firth, or inaccessible farmland. And the dog will suffer without an extra incentive to give her a few miles on a cold dark night!

There is no way I can get my "home" grid to have the three accessible corners I need while still including the streetlit part of the town :(

It's definitely not easy with inaccessible areas. (I've put in some feature requests with different ideas for those interested.)

I have to correct an earlier statement I made about inaccessibility... "If you have at least half of the squares accessible then it's not too limiting" or something similar.

In general that's true. For 1v1 you only need to own at least half of the squares. However owning is different to visiting, and if one person visits 150 squares and the other 200 squares on the same day, the person visiting 200 squares will own 50 more squares than the other player.

It becomes murkier with multiplayer.

As an extreme example maybe you can access 175 squares. Seems good. Plenty over the half (being 113 for majority).

You visit all 175 squares every day (no mean feat!) There are 7 other players, and each one visits 50 squares every day. Maybe each player visits the same squares each day, and broken down as follow:

- 25 of them are shared with you and only you,
- 15 of them are shared with you and one of more other players,
- 6 of them unique to them, and
- 4 of them shared with one or more other players (but not you).

Your score: 175 visited, 0 owned
All other players: 50 visited, 6 owned
Cake: 175 of your accessible squares + 4 to 33 of your inaccessible squares (42 of 75 being owned by someone)

:-) 🧐🤓

Meanwhile, back in mid-table, remember that the next multiplayer game will start on Monday and you need to be in the top 128 at noon on Monday to be sure of qualifying for it.

JCB is giving me a clue why I'm not very good at this - I just go out and run and see what squares I get. Apparently there's more to it than that :-o

The other issue with lots of inaccessible squares is the amount of ‘out and back’ routes so the second half of the route scores 0
