All good here, although as discussed elsewhere somewhat miffed that a confidence boosting PB at the Retford half looks to be scuppered by gale force winds. I’m feeling on the edge of getting injured so have backed off a bit this week – 8 weeks of 50+ miles is more than I’ve ever managed before so not smashing myself to pieces on Sunday might be a blessing in disguise.
I still want a couple more big weeks after that before winding down. Have got the road relays on the 23rd, which at either 5k or 5 miles depending on which leg I get is right up my street, and will maybe have a hit out at a fast parkrun to finally put a score on the board for the challenge.
Enjoy the 20 on the weekend Chris, at least by leading it you will keep your focus, that's likely to be wind battered as well!

No spring marathon for me, training was going great for couple of upcoming ultras ( 33 & 53 ) until I got a achilles/calf twinge last week. That's cleared now, but got hamstring/hip twinges now, but running through these.
33 miler next Saturday, feeling less confident than I was 10 days ago - had been hoping to give it a good go ( even though it was originally supposed to be a training run for the 53 miler ), but may just be a steadier run now.

No marathoning, but the grumbly hamstring after last weekend's league race has persisted a bit. I think it might be linked to some lower back twinges, but in classic style I've given it two days to heal and that's all I can be bothered allocating for the time being.
I'm into my lent 2 miles per day streak, so I'll be doing that at a minimum, but I do think I'll have to defer any speed work for the time being. I missed a tempo this week, and an MLR, but I'll do 15 or so tomorrow, a few on Sunday and week 3 of P&D is all MLR / GA stuff so providing things don't deteriorate I'll persist. I can live without doing the HM in Chester if I need to, my bigger worry is causing a hamstring problem for skiing in early April!

I've got a half on Sunday, but I'll struggle to hit 1:30 never mind anything quicker. Looking forward to it though. Training has been OK, but I'm not in 3:15 shape, so really more of an imposter here now! G

Oi! 20:23 at flat, windless Perth parkrun last weekend. Unless there was actually a sandbag on me somewhere that I wasn't aware of, that's my best ability just now. Predicts a 1:32-1:33 half. I'm hopeful (deluded?!) that - having done more long slow runs than speed work and not having raced short stuff either, that I'll be better on a half than the 5km. But that's just a hope, not really confident! G

I'd still back you. I'd only gone sub 20 once, two weeks before my first sub 90 so I reckon with your history you've got as good a chance as anyone of converting 20:23 into a sub 90 half based on your experience if nothing else. Either way, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Aww, thanks larks. I'll give it a go and yes, I'll enjoy it! Well, as much as a 6.30 start, hour's drive, then 1 hour bus to the start, then 1.5 hours of hard running, in the very possibly cold Scottish March morning...
It's seeing all these people regularly doing low 19:0x, 18:xx or even 17s (in my club - their late 40s and 50s!) Gits!
More training is the only answer! Must get finger out! G

Surely all those sprints across the rugby pitches have got to count for something G, no ?
