Not sure if this has been mentioned previously but... My old gym used the TRX System - those yellow strappy things for core training. TRX exercises - uk.trxtraining.com I'm no longer a member so I looked into getting some for home-use and they were about £200 - but they're basically two straps, two handles and a hook. So I thought they can't be too difficult to make.... Anyway, it seems loads of people have had the same idea. There are loads of other how-to videos and tutorials online if anyone is interested (slight variations) - but just thought I'd post because they are pretty good for the core - especially for £20-30.... ![]() |

I have been slacker than a slack thing in the land of slack lately but plan to get up early tomorrow to kick start my strength work. Diet and weight loss goign in right direction so now is as good a time as any. Anyway have put a new link in header, if is good enough for Farah and Rupp is good enough for me right. Please shout if I do not appear being smug by tomorrow evening. Thanks ![]() |

I seem to have developed some groinal issues and not in a good way. I probably need someone to have a good poke about and rummage down there but frankly I'm terrified to ask.

Thanks for the link to the Farah and Rupp routine Termy. I need to get back into regular strength and core work and I would like to incorporate some of the moves on there. Rich - what RS said. |

Cracked a rib falling off a horse 2 weeks ago. Haven't done a crunch, plank or almost any core work and feeling very soggy round the middle. Any tips for core without compressing chest at front or lying on back? I did wobble board squats (supposed to use core to stabilise yourself slightly?) but didn't feel it much round the middle. Feeling a lot less sore now, so will try Pilates tomorrow and some mat work tonight to see how it feels. :-)G |

Ok guys, I've decided that if I'm going to hit my marathon goal in April I need to supplement my running with some core work. I've read back a few pages, but not had chance to read the whole thread yet. I've also had a quick look at the links in the header (although the Pfitzinger one doesn't seem to be working?). I particularly like the Beginner Triathlete Hard Core and the Core H 10 minute, as they both seem simple enough to do at home and the video/gifs show me how to do the exercises. I am thinking about doing the Core H, but starting on 20-30s per exercise, maybe 2-3 times a week and building up the duration of each exercise gradually. Does this seem a sensible approach? Any other advice you'd care to offer a core newbie? |
