I bought some kettlebells They were on sale in Sainsburys so I thought I'd give them a go.

I'm always a bit nervous about using kettlebells. The way you see some folk swinging them about, looks like a recipe for back problems, joint problems, or just braining someone walking nearby! I'm sure used properly they're great though. Bodypump last night. Bit woosy on the weights, but it's about the core, right? And did 60 situps, 60s plank, 60s side plank x2, all with twists and raises too. And foam roller and lots of stretches, which really is the bit I need to keep doing to avoid stiffening up and muscle/joint problems. Pilates tonight, yay! G |

I think you're right :)G, I had to do a bit of a search before I found a suitable workout which didn't have too much swinging around (my spare room is very small!) and one that concentrated on mainly core. This is a nice little routine to start off with, although the last exercise is very hard! m.youtube.com |

Ouch! Certainly, the PTs at the gym have got everyone doing it (everyone on private training, that is! No class for it though - do you get Kettlebell classes?) G

You do kettlebells outside in case the bell slips from you grasp and demolishes a wall on its bid for freedom.

(that video) looks like those moves could be done with a small hand weight to start with hard enough for me at least!

Hi, haven't been around for a while been busy. Currently working through the strength/strength-speed/speed-strength continuum. Moved on to strength-speed/strength block this week splitting upper body & lower body into separate days. Yesterday was lower body so power cleans, high hip kettlebell swings, stiff leg deadlifts, front squats and lunges. Today was upper body so speed bench press, push press, snatch grip high pulls, kettlebell press, pull ups and curls. Tomorrow is a rest day, thank goodness.

Hi Giz - I was wondering where you were yesterday. We add 15 seconds to our plank each Sunday. We're up to 2 mins at the mo'. |
