Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’m logging all my runs manually but I am NOT cheating, just in case anyone is doubting me. For a start, why anyone would want to cheat at what is, when all’s said and done, a silly game, is beyond me. Secondly, I’d only be cheating myself and what’s the point in that if I already know I didn’t do the work?

Not all bunions need or benefit from surgery and sometimes living (and running) with a bunion is a better option for an individual than having an operation, and orthopaedic surgeons are much less trigger-happy about operating on feet now. This isn't NHS cutbacks, it's in response to surgical outcomes being put under more research scrutiny and is a good thing. The same applies to many other orthopaedic procedures. However, an appropriate bunion operation when it's needed can be life transforming.

Mrs Jigs, it looks as if you've had enduring success. Have you had to make changes to your running following surgery?

Totally that, Tikka. Nobody is going to be impressed with anyone else's fabricated training runs, running streaks, or Run the Sum completions, and who want to be congratulated for an achievement that's a lie?

Not made any changes Velociraptor, following surgery my gait had changed to neutral, I do have a bunion growing again on my right foot but as long as it doesn’t give pain or issues I will live with it.

Whether I complete it or not (and I hope I do), at least run the sum has got me back out the door: My last five weeks mileage totals have been 6, 0, 4, 0, 20, and I've run 9 in the first 2 days of this week. All the running this month has been easy pace - I'm aware that I'm upping the mileage at a probably unwise rate ;) . My current intention is to complete run the sum this month and then move into a 3-4 times a week with some structure, having hopefully regained the running habit

I intend to do Run the Sum, then the Virtual VMLM, then have a few slack weeks in October.

Gosh, this is hard enough without any ailments! After a recent 86-day streak, I thought it'd be a doddle. But I've never done 5 miles on consecutive days before.

GG, to ease your calf, don't run on it ;-) Foam roller might help or go to see a physio. Try not to break yourself!

Your plan and mine are sounding similar V-rap. I have upped my mileage a lot the past few weeks so was always going to risk a niggle or two just hope I’ve caught this in time.
