Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I can't believe how many clothes my daughters have :-O It's enough to allow them to bung a load through the washing machine and tumble dryer and then leave it in a basket in the expectation that someone else will sort it out for them. And do it again until there are no baskets left.

I tell you, I've been too soft with 'em.

I've done some email decluttering today. It didn't take long and should save me 5 minutes of 'deleting without reading' each day.

I'm painting a slightly scuffed white wall the same shade of white by energy-saving artificial light. What could possibly go wrong? ;)

(It is decluttering. When it's done, I'll have disposed of a three-quarters-full 5L can of paint that was in the cupboard under the stairs.)

Fellmouse asked me not to throw out any of her books, but I think some of the utter shite like Martina Cole might find its way into the paper recycling bank.

I thought we'd decluttered quite a lot when we moved house. 7 months later it looks like we will be moving again and I can't believe how much crap there is to get rid of already. Or maybe I'm just being really ruthless this time.

This is a great thread!
I'm currently on a mission to get rid of loads of cr@p which is cluttering up our cupboards and spare rooms. My OH hates throwing stuff away, it's really frustrating :-(
I've given loads to our local charity shops (books, furniture, clothes, skiing stuff) and I am trying sneakily get rid of some of OH old tee shirts, as he has hundreds!

You're my soul mate, Sazza, dh is a bloody shopaholic with a particular penchant for Tshirts who hates throwing stuff out and it drives me insane...

What's it with men and tee shirts?
OH has some from the 80's/ 90's from his first holiday in Florida/ first fishing trip which are really naff and threadbare... :-)

I don't have a problem with men acquiring mountains of t-shirts. eL Bee! and VP would both rather wear old blankets than go shopping for clothes :)

My daughters are another matter. When Fellmouse went to university, she managed to leave 16 pairs of clean and intact knickers at home. I daren't speculate on how many pairs she owns in total. How many moons can one teenage girl have?

Brilliant thread. After moving into house 2 months ago some rooms have been no-go areas after I just dumped everything in them. Tried the 'unf*ck' your habitat approach and managed to clear bags and boxes out of back bedroom last weekend. Now need to get the conservatory suite out of it before I can move the free weights/gym stuff in to go along with the exercise bike. The conservatory however looks like this... [IMAGE], bikes, boxes, microwave, clothes drying not helped by leaky roof and floor to replace. To clear the conservatory I'll need to clear the garage which might need a skip since its full to the max with old desks, shelving, tools and garden stuff !! Tidy/organised house by Xmas?

Whoops didn't work maybe this will [IMAGE] ... there's a Xmas tree and decorations lurking in there as well - if I wait long enough could save a couple of trips up the loft ladder.

".... This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day."
