Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Coat hangers are a strange one as neither plastic nor metal! Never imagined there'd be a specific recycling point.

Even though I decluttered significantly before moving I'm having to do more. Kitchen has less storage than my old one, so have been thinking carefully about how much I use things. Two boxes for charity and two more with extra plates/glasses, that I probably ought to get rid of too! I think I'll label them and if not unpacked within a year they can go.

Sort of decluttering going through bits deciding to chuck shred or keep. Might be some things going to charity shop like Michal Caine

I had one of those leaflets through the door today and decided to sell a bit of silver to the man, he seemed pretty genuine. Sorted through some old cutlery and all the EPNS stuff will now go in a charity bag.
It's time I did a charity shop run to clear out the spare bedroom.

I have cleared a pile from my bedroom floor which included a couple of empty boxes (might come in handy) and some heirlooms which I will now have to try and sell. All prompted by my visitor last week and being fed up with said pile.

Well done AR.

I attacked the boxes in my bedroom. I can’t do it properly until I have wardrobes, but unpacking and repacking, and putting a few things into my bookcase, plus a pile of summer clothes into a box reduced the number of boxes by half.

I threw away quite a few hangars, an awful lot of out-of-date medicine, and a fair amount of old makeup and jewellery. Amazed how much extra stuff I had considering I’d already decluttered before the move.

I found that when I moved back in I decluttered yet again as I unpacked.

That’s exactly what I’m doing. Plus as the removals men packed I didn’t get to sort through at that stage. Some stuff I’m wondering why I brought it! And also realised that one guy was a much better packer than the other!

I'm glad you opted for them to do the packing, at least you can move the boxes around as they shouldn't be too heavy.

I went out to a dealer this afternoon and she's coming round the house tomorrow to see if there's anything she can buy off me. It's mostly stuff that I've inherited and kept, hoping to make a bit of money out of it. It probably won't be worth sending to auction but hopefully she can buy some and point me in the direction of other possible dealers. What they don't want will probably then go to charity shops.

".... This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day."
