I'm sure Sharkie will be along with the rules soon but the basic idea is that every day in lent you record a 'new thing' in this thread whether that's seeing the first daffodils in flower in your garden or actually doing a new thing. The doing can be something big like taking up a new activity to walking to your local shop via a route you haven't walked before or buying a different brand of coffee.

Every day there is a winner and the winner (aka the newt jingler) chooses the next days winner.

These activities are also known as newt jingles..........

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.
