I have a very poorly dog here today Don't read on if you don't want TMI
She had an upset tummy yesterday on her morning walk (diarrhoea) but was quite happy to go to training (and have liver/chicken treats) and went for a walk in the afternoon. Later in the evening she ate some rice and chicken.
We had to let her in the garden a couple of times in the night and this morning she has been eating grass and generally looking miserable.
She has still got diarrhoea and has sicked up the grass as well. I've got some sachets of essentially tummy settlers from the vet and have sprinkled one on a very small amount of chicken, which she is not interested in and another I have mixed with a little water to see if she will take it 'neat'.
They offered me some in a syringe that you squirt into their mouths but having given horses wormers in that format I declined... however I might have to go back to the vets and get one of those. I'm thinking I'll probably take her to the vet in the morning if there is no change..or possibly tonight although someone I know has already suggested I'm a bit too quick to rush the dog to the vet without giving her a chance to get better on her own.. but I'd rather be that sort of owner than someone who leaves things until the dog is clearly in need of serious medical attention - so difficult to get the balance right......

Poor Wanda. I think I'm over cautious too BBL, but would rather get reassurance from the vet than be at home worrying that it might be something serious.
Charlie's paw seems less red/inflamed today. I'm hoping it's healing as he's almost eaten through the cone. He's having a break from it for a little while - we've been for a walk and he's asleep now so not mithering at his paw

Och poor Wanda - as someone who rushed our guinea pig to the vet the other week (possibly unnecessarily) I can totally understand the anxiety.
Glad to hear Charlie's paw is a little better.
I cannot wait. If I could get in the car now and skip tomorrow at work I would. It's going to be great to get to know him and spent acouple of weeks playing and training. I have finally found a dog walker for August when work/school back on. She can do shorter walks whilst he is wee and build up to walks with other pooches.

Oh poor Wanda it's so hard to know what to do, do you think she's eaten or drunk anything she shouldn't have?
FWIW Ralph had been the same - with diarrhoea on/off for a few days. He didn't seem poorly in himself and was still drinking so I wasn't too worried. Having to get up 3 times in the night Monday worried me a bit more - but I couldn't get an appointment at vets until today as they didn't think it was an emergency. I withheld food for 36 hours and that seems ( fingers crossed) to have done the trick so I've cancelled the vet appt. I hope that was the right thing!

I don't know whether she has eaten something - she had a bone from the butchers to knaw on while we were organising our trail race on Sunday, but she has had those before with no ill effects and they tend to 'firm everything up' rather than loosen it.
Sounds like Ralph is on the mend. Wanda did have some food last night (about 9pm) but has had nothing all day today save the powder from the vets mixed with a little beaten raw egg. However - having been very sorry for herself all day, she demanded a walk at about 5pm whereupon she took me to the local garage where the receptionist always gives her a gravy bone and refused to leave until one of the mechanics had taken pity on her (Wanda had to show him where the gravy bones were as the receptionist wasn't there!!!!) It's also fish and chip van night in our village and she headed off up there next and lay down at the front of the queue - not helped by the woman in the van saying 'are you sure I can't just give her a sausage' - another word that Wanda knows very well!
But what's coming out of the rear end is still not good - although she seems much brighter and is certainly hungry. I am boiling up some chicken that she can have for breakfast tomorrow if she continues to improve and I thought I might cool the water it's boiling in and offer her some of that tonight as I'm concerned she hasn't replaced all the fluids she's lost today.
The 'chickeny' water should be OK I'd hope?

Animals generally - if they are pottering about, wagging their tail at their name etc I would put a bowl of water down and leave them unfed for a day/night. I only do vets if things are not behaving normally.
