Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I know this thread is politics free but thought you might appreciate this joke sent to me by son1:
"I asked my dog what we should do about the EU. He said we should repeatedly ask to leave, and when given the opportunity to go out, stand in the doorway for a bit before going back inside"

Sound familiar anyone? :-)

All going quite well apart from the car... he has been sick every journey and now start to shake and cry and dribble and claw me to get out just for being sat in at home.... anyone got any words of wisdom? :(
Currently I'm starting from the beginning just sitting in with him but he is so distressed

No wisdom to offer. I guess you have to replace the negative association with a positive one though.

My sister's dog has never been keen on the car and would pretty much play dead as soon as the car harness was on. I think when she started to realise that there was often a new walk with exciting smells at the end she relaxed a bit. I don't think she was ever as distressed as Indi though.

I remember reading Emma and I, and the author describes sitting in the car with Emma in the footwell for a long period of time. She then built up sitting in the car with it turned on, to eventually going out on drives.

It hasn't worked with Dexter, but I wonder if it's because he is too "old" now?

I know a few dogs that grew out of their car sickness as they got older.

It is horrible when they are so distressed isn't it? :(

I've got the opposite problem - as soon as I open the tailgate I've got 4 or 5 sitting inside, even when I don't want them there! :) :) :)
