"Both score double for being the first of the particular activity today."
Thanks @CumbriAndy, I didn't realise that was how it worked. That rule makes absolutely no sense to me! Is it still the case that if you run over a square and later in the day bike over it, it counts twice? (6 points potentially).

Thanks CAndy, I didn't realise it was double for both activities in the same square, we're learning all the time.

roberton - I believe so, yes
The double points thing also applies 'per square' - so if both players run on the same day day but don't overlap both will score 4 per square.
Seems eminently sensible to me (insofar as the double points make any sense at all) - minimises the mythical advantage for people who log early over those who go out later.

@Oranj, I think Jock must have been just ahead in uploading as he has scored 2 in a few squares (ie his 4 has been reduced by my 2 in the squares we happen to have overlapped in) our training logs both show 5pm

@CumbriAndy - sure, I realised it was per square. However I really don't see why the double point thing is per activity, and I even less see why the same person can get points twice for the same square on the same day.
To me the game is first of all about ticking off squares. There's also ownership which is why points matter, and they need to be accrued per day. But to me, the main task is to cover as many squares during the week, with the secondary thing being to cover contested ones per day.
I don't really know if it needs a first of the day bonus* at all, but it it definitely doesn't need to reward you for covering a square twice** or reward an opponent for switching from bike to trainers or whatever
We should write a missive to Lord Fetch, explaining that he should once again show us his munificent wisdom and change it.
Roberto/.
* it's further not helped by WSW's concept of time. I can upload a file from 2016 at one minute past minute and I'm guaranteed to get the "first person through that square that day" bonus.
** and of course it is worth reiterating, that doing two separate runs through the same square isn't rewarded.

"one minute past minute" -> "one minute past midnight"
It's getting late. I need to get to bed so I can be ready for my early morning run!

I accidentally went into a very early lead over Mandymoo as I'd actually meant to squeak a victory in last week's game, but sat on my behind too long before my short cycle; and although it uploaded at 11:58, the game finished before it was updated.
Mind you, I then took the bike out again shortly after.
(Last weeks game was a bit odd in that our 77 total squares were completely separate, in fact not even adjoining at any part.)
