Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

If you're targeting 2:59 it sounds like you're the one that got carried away 😜

Now you're definitely sounding like me Windsor Wool 😁

Seriously, you're in great shape for early Feb. I'm not at all jealous...

12 miles, 12 miles only. Let's not get carried away now

Sounds like you could carry me round and still sneak sub three.

we've been here many times before, run a few sub 3s, had a few misses. I like the confidence in me though, thanks - sometimes we forget how easy it is to encourage others but how easy it is to be so hard on yourself.

It all goes back to that self confidence thing; whether it's 20 milers, tanda calculators, self-talk, whatever.

However you get it you're going to need to have it on the start line (and retain most of it through the race), and if you've not got it yet, but you know where to get it from, you're on the right path.

thanks lark, appreciated.

JDA - you won't see me at all. That tall frame of yours is going to provide the perfect windbreak for this midget, all the way around :-).

Ha - the self talk thing is interesting because some of my best races have come from me being negative and cautious on the startline. (See Dartmoor Discovery 32 miler and my Plymouth 10k pb) Too much bullishness is always a bad thing for me. Fatalism tinged with hope is a good combination.

You don't have to think it's easy (in fact because it's never easy, that's usually bad), but you do need to believe enough to give yourself a chance.

I have said for many years that a large part of running is all in the mind. Get that right and you will run well provided you trained well.

I made more mistakes than most over the years.
