Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

SC - i don't bother about what the garmin says or any other indicators when it comes to training. Used to do HRT but eventually it started taking the fun out of running for me!

puzzler - i do occasionally see on strava the 'this is harder than your usual effort' but that's about as much as i look into it!

Did actually do a 30min tempo session last night and hit paces i've not been able to sustain for more than 2m over the last couple of years. According to my garmin - i was working hard ;-)

Might go down in the “too fast too soon” category, but managed a reverse royal flush parkrun this morning with a 6:26 first mile down to 6:52 third for a sub 21. Faster than I thought I could sustain after my patchy return to running. I just need to match that up with mojo and some consistency (and stretching etc!)

Thanks Puzzler and Stoosh. Training to heart rate does take the fun out of running but I’ve found it a useful wake-up call that I haven’t been putting in enough in my LSD and easy runs. If you get the base right then surely speed will increase through the effort sessions. Glad I had yesterday off as I was on 44 day streak the like of which I’ve never come close to before. Streaks also take fun out for of running.

TBH - i'll get back to the focused hit the sessions carry on at some point but for now and after 2 years of constant injuries i'm happy to be running relatively pain free at the moment so more about testing my body without overdoing it!
It'll be another steady effort at today's xc and see if legs will allow a sprint finish ;-)

First Long run of the campaign done. Got back to the car to realise I had left the lights on...flat battery. Cold and tired and a little embarrassed. The run itself was enjoyable!

wf, good to get one under your belt.

I did my first JD quality session yesterday. A long run with 2x6 miles at marathon pace. It was a tough session and for the second set of 6 miles my legs felt like they do towards the end of a marathon, so it was just a case of focusing on form and cadence and keeping the legs moving. Numbers were ok and I've got an identical session three weeks out from Manchester so it'll be interesting to compare and hopefully see the progression.

Nice to see Stoosh at XC. He managed to show me a clean pair of heels (not unexpected. Except it's XC, so it was actually a muddy pair of heels). Great fun day as always. Love XC. And "long" run on Sunday at nearly 3 hours was a distance of... 10 miles! :-O I love easy running with the 80 year old in our club! :-) G
