Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

blimey Quintana done for taking Tramadol - jeez, I was prescribed it when the disc went in my back and it turned me into a zombie :-o how then hell he can ride a bike on that I don't know. Good to see it's banned because of those side effects though

I think I've just managed to submit a team on velo games but haven't done it before. It's going to be interesting to see if I got it right! 😁🤣

Quintana and Tramadol is odd. A non-banned substance (from WADA's perspective) as not performance enhancing (beyond stemming pain I suppose) but banned as a safety measure by UCI.

He's not someone I would have associated with deliberate forays into the PED / PED-like world, having read Rendell's "Columbia Espassion".

It's "legal" pain relief. But addictive, with hellish withdrawal symptoms. It shouldn't even be legal for the general public but big bucks... sigh.

Chris Horner was saying on his channel yesterday that it was used quite freely/legally/openly back in his day. Not saying that was right or wrong, but he personally doesn’t class it as ‘performance enhancing’, and neither do the UCI.

Tramadol was initially marketed to GPs as a non-addictive painkiller that was less addictive and more effective than paracetamol/codeine combinations. I agree with Chrisull, it's a horrible and clinically superfluous substance which I'd like to see withdrawn. I recall allegations of its extensive use by Team Sky athletes a few years ago.
