Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The BGR is 'just' a walk, you'll be fine, flip :-)

There's more running involved in a sub 24 hour BG than you'd need to do in the L100 if you took over 35 or 36 hours ;-)

That's for dead sure. I think FR is quoting someone else's [famous] words here ....

I reckon the 100 is 'walkable', contrary to what the organisers claim. A strong fellrunner (top ten in Classics Trophy?) could do it. My understanding is Billy Bland is the only person to walk a BG and it's well beyond all but 'super-heroes' imho

Kevin Marshall walks the 100, finished it a few times now as well. No idea about about the BGR. Haven't looked at it as its not on my list.

Flip, when are you planning to do your BGR?

I don't think the two are comparable, really. There is a huge amount of climb involved in a BGR, it's a different beast altogether.

MG - for your Leg 1 recce, do you mean you took the line to the West and then came out by the Blencathra center? I know what you mean, but if conditions were a bit dodgy and you didn't fancy Halls Fell (and I don't blame you), Doddick would probably have been a very viable and shorter option.

Northern Exile...yes but I didn't go right to Blencathra centre, cut across left off Blease Fell to Threkeld, if I'd had other running people with me I would have gone down Halls Fell ;-)
