My latest make, a sock monkey made from Irish dancing socks to replace the old one she lost so she had her mascot for the world championship in Dublin later this month. And I hate hand sewing!

I'm not very well this week so I've been finding stuff to watch on my iPad as I feel sorry for myself in bed. Why has it taken me 10 years to find The Great Sewing Bee? I remember when it launched I thought, "no thanks, how boring" - but I've just watch series 10 and find myself wanting to apply!! I have also taken the time to finish the ends on my mystical lanterns blanket (a Janie Crow pattern). There are 179 whole motifs, plus some halves. Each of the whole motifs had eight ends. Did I tidy them up as I went? No...so that's 1,432 bits of yarn I had to sew in (I've left the end bits as I'll crochet over them when I add the border). That's the last time I work like that! I think I finished putting it together over a year. Still needs the border and blocking but nearly there; am going to give it to daughter. |
