As its officially spring I am back to having more salads than sandwiches, today's was absolutely delicious. Mixed greek style yoghurt with hummus.

Well even though I don’t properly qualify for this thread, I’ve decided to weigh in (ha!) to the discussion around BMI/waist size in older people. Tbf I don’t qualify for that either as I’m a few years off 65. But definitely post-menopausal, which is what many of you are alluding to as making a difference to shape. I sort of envy those of you talking about your 24 inch waists when you were younger and not being able to get back to what you were. By the time I was a teenager I was already obese. I don’t want to get back to what I was - I want to boldly go where I’ve never gone before. At my biggest I was over 22 stone with a BMI of 48.5. Don’t know what my waist size was but I was wearing size 28 (and they were a bit tight) - so at least 48” In January last year I was 18st 10lb, BMI 41.5. I didn’t measure my waist then, but based on wearing 22-24, it was probably around 42-43”. At the moment I’m around 13st 3lb, BMI 29 and waist of 34”. I’m 5’7”, so to be under half my height it should be less than 33.5”. So close! I’m now wearing size 16 - which is the most common size for British women. And the average (yes, average) BMI for women aged 55-64 is 28.8. I’ve gone from top 1% to about average. So, in that sense, I am an in betweenie! But I reckon I have another couple of stone to lose. My body fat is somewhere around 35%, and under 30% would be better. On the running front - I need to be careful because of knee issues, but have been running regularly since the start of the year. I have a 10K coming up at the end of next month….. 4 weeks today, yikes! On Friday I set out to do a LONG long run, but planning RWR from the start. Covered almost 9 miles with frequent walk breaks and a couple of sections of all walking. |

Hello, fetchies. Monthly update, let’s see… Weight loss feels very slow - but am down 3.5lb since 1st April, and a bit over 5 1/2 stone since the start of last year. Excitingly, my waist this morning measured at 85.5cm - just 0.5cm more to get me to the metabolically important “half your height” milestone. My size 16 clothes pretty much all fit perfectly and some of them are loose in places (I started last year in 22/24) I have my (interim) goal weight on the trendweight website set at 13st 1lb, as that will put my BMI a smidge under the average for British women in my age bracket of 28.8. Last year it was 41.5 and my all time high was 48.5. I have just 2.2lb to go to hit that goal. After that, I will lower my goal by 2lb to get “under 13 stone”. This is utterly unbelievable….. but achievable, I’m sure. Maybe even by the end of this month? 4.2lb in a month, if I put my mind to it. And I have been doing a lot of work on mindset! So - “under 13 stone” by June, and maybe “under 12 stone” in September? Totally doable! Time is marching on, and 3 weeks on Sunday I am running a 10K! My longest run to date is 4 miles, but I did a RWR with walking breaks from the start of nearly 9 miles last week, so the 10K will be fine. Not aiming for a particular time, just to get round without needing to walk. OK, maybe I’ll walk up the hill to the university (this is in Exeter), cos that’s a bugger. |

Fabulous RevB - good steady progress and astonishing what you have achieved overall. So close to that waist measurement target too, another important milestone. |

Excellent stats and shows of you have the determination and focus it can be done. You’re similar to my cousin in the same timescale she’s dropped from an 18/20 to 12/14 she looks incredible & singing hitting her goal she’s continued to lose to where she thought wouldn’t be possible. So proud of her. Well done on the mindset work too it’s so important. I didn’t weigh today with being away. But the week before I came away I had a weight variance of almost 5lb in 3 days so my scales are either broken or I am. Wearing clothes here I wore last year and they fit fine. The scales are hurting my head so I’m probably going to stop weighing and go by eating healthy and getting the exercise ramped up. |

thanks, Pix am fed up with paying for premium mfp to get rid of their adverts. But it does have many year's worth of my recipes stored... My trendweight graph is going very slowly in the right direction, am about 4/5lb down on January's high point. Wish it were quicker but it is apparently almost all fat that's going - so slow will have to do |

Sounds like you're very determined @RevBarbaraG . Awesome. Well done. I think going 'by eating healthy and getting the exercise ramped up' sounds like a good approach, GG. Hope it works out for you. Thanks for the link to the app, Pix. Hopefully it'll stay off Rosehip. 🤞 |

Hibeedeb
you’re doing amazingly @RevBarbaraG! I’m at exactly the weight I was at in January despite going down by a kg or 2 in the meantime. Must try harder 😀 |
