Precisely why I suggested GarminSync. The data has already gone to Garmin Connect so surely simpler to sync the data from there rather than implementing your own mechanism to import the data again.

GCP is provided to allow a direct connection to the watch, rather than having to do so. Plenty of people don't have a GC account.

Just in case you need my question from t'other thread reposting here in its correct place ;-)

"""""OK. And normally it works just super. But just occasionally I get all the text, but not the route:

http://www.fetcheveryone.com/training-log-view.php?id=8210137

http://www.fetcheveryone.com/training-log-view.php?id=8191387

Looking in "my routes" I can see that there *IS* a route imported for one of these two (but it's obviously not got linked to the individual log entry at import). But there isn't an imported route for the other. """""

Thanks - I'm hoping that by moving more of the processing to the server side (and through the same route as the GPX/TCX/FIT processing code), I can make the results more consistent.

I don't mind it going to training centre/garmin connect and then to here. It means my traniing data is in two places in case the earth is hit by an asteroid.

I upload to both anyway, but then I've been told that's a bit daft by several people :-)

*zipped* :-#

Since GCP pulls my data even when the watch isn't connected I assumed it was just looking at the local files.

It's a mixture I think. On older Garmins, it's actually looking on the watch, whereas with newer ones, it's stored on your computer.

Just doing some testing now... :-)

Just to make the round 100 posts.

If you're daft Herman I'm really sharing the love. My data goes to the Garmin Connect website, that gets synced to Runkeeper via GarminSync. I also import everything to SportTracks on my laptop and to here. I was also uploading to the Endomondo website but have stopped using that since they've gone further down the commercial route.

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Just a little note to say thanks for all the comments here and via feedback. The test phase was useful for knocking off a lot of bugs, but there's nothing like the thrill of putting something live to really get that usability feedback flowing :-)

Here's the TO DO list following feedback from users:

1) Solution for only showing runs since last update - DONE
2) Links on successful import to allow direct route to edit/view - DONE
3) Avoid reloading data on choosing different time view.
4) Stop people pressing the button more than once - DONE
5) Auto detect sport where available.
6) Fix rogue pace zones (reported by Duchess, MacApple et al)
7) Max speed (for Mick173)
8) Smoother import of elevation data.
