Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Since playing this game I've been exploring my local area more. Gosh there are some strange street names. Trident Close, Concord Close.
Anyone else got some weird ones?

Great Brownings and Little Brownings are two of my local favourites. The first sounds like a general exclamation for posh people. The second is a name they might use for number twos.

Keep going Sampson. In the winter 10000 points will get you into the top-10.

Great Brownings could be big number 2s?

Yep- as Oranj says, stick with it Sampson - there have always been seasonal variations in scoring (higher when the sun is out/plenty of daylight) and we're also currently seeing a lockdown effect as people get to spend more time near home in decent weather.

If it helps, think of your score a bit like a race time. The score you get is the result of your personal choices/circumstances (just like a race time) and there's nothing you can do about anybody else. We're all happy when we set PBs regardless of our position in a race field - we can choose to see our scores similarly.

The lockdown is having a massive effect too with people staying local. The 30th spot on the 10k badges hall of fame went not all that long ago

I’d never thought of seasonal variation would the scores. I’m on my highest score, 13000, and barely holding on to 30th place. (10000 got me in top 10 a few months ago). A couple of months ago I started recording my commute walk in London. Up to a Couple of hundred points a day doing that but not so much with lockdown. Also, I’m on a roll with bug clearing.

When it's muddy out and dark early, mileage goes down. Fewer miles, fewer Fetchpoints.

Lockdown is actually hurting my score quite a lot, because there are parts of my circle I just don't want to run through because the roads and pavements are so narrow that distancing is a challenge. So I haven't had a bug bonus in months!

They sound inaccessible.
