Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I love that idea!! Thanks for that :-)

I've just dropped off 6 handbags/clutchbags, some jewellery which I've never worn (gifts which I feel guilty about) and children's books at the charity shop. It feels great.

Ah yes, gifts which one feels guilty about... Difficult, that.

Offloaded three bags of clothes in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance collecting point today. Also have a full Ikea bag more sorted out to go but I need to remove lots of cat hair first. Then wash. I think if I just wash them the machine might jam up. 🙄 Parts got practically felted with hair when I stored them in a wardrobe a previous cat liked to sleep in, which shows I should have just donated them years ago. Still, the cat was happy.

They won’t trigger allergies after washing, will they?

They might if some one is very sensitive, but if that’s the case they will be careful of where they get their clothes from.

Defluff, vacuum then wash. Can’t think of anything else to do, and don’t want to landfill them. Apart from the obvious, they’re all in very good condition.

pop some rubber gloves on, dampen them then rub down the clothes, cat hairs will easily be removed.

That sounds like an excellent plan, Mrs Jigs - do you mean domestic or disposable type? I’ve found damp hands good with the lighter areas, but they don’t touch the felted bits. Can’t believe one cat managed to deposit so much fur just by brushing past the edges and sitting on the top - at least twice day for years, though. Lesson learnt for me, I hope - declutter early and often.

".... This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day."
