Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It was Intro A, JW. We’ve done a few online competitions before, but this is for an in-house one our yard is doing (also a Newt, it’s a lockdown innovation.)

I’m thinking now that we should have done the Prelim option, because as far as I know only 2 other people chose that. :-)

When I used to go to actual dressage competitions I would pick up my test sheet at the end (not usually with a rosette unless it was one of those competitions where everyone taking part got a 'Well Done' rosette) and I'd get some snooty look from the woman handing them out for having the lowest score, but I would point to a crying child and say I'm here to make him feel better - imagine if he had got a terrible score AND been last in the competition too.

However I didn't go to these things very often after that because I had better things to do on a Thursday night than be the worst competitor from 30 kids

As per other comments - we also make a decision to watch a particular thing on TV together .... and I completely agree with Linds I was thinking only this morning I need to get a new pair of jeans but can't face the thought of how that might happen before the shops re-open.

Morning! I’m trying to get my newt out early again as the weather looks good I shall go and practice riding my motorbike later! Today I’ve been out for my run, seen the sunrise, ran a 21 minute rainbow relay and then I started spotting post boxes! I never realised there were so many to look for! So that’s my newt for today! Attempting to see how many different post boxes I can find!

Good newts LGJ
We sometimes have some stuff delivered from a local baker, but today for the first time we walked to their house to collect it. We had a Swedish knot cinnamon bun for breakfast, delicious!

Yesterday was a brilliant newt-y day
New stuff arrived, more New stuff was ordered. Old precious things were found and used. There were flowers and trees. Runs and walks in different places. Also introducing kids to old favourite TV shows. A couple of disappointments too :-(

I'm choosing .B. though, for her determination and persistence to learn something new, and her sheer joy achieving it.

Good news - I have a newt for today! Last night's dinner has just turned up.

Well packaged with some ice gel packs one of which I am now using as an ice pack on my shoulder so a bonus win there too.

It's allegedly a three course meal for 2 people. One of these Less is More places I imagine as I could easily eat the whole lot on my own and still go back for seconds. Whether I can actually be bothered to drizzle with the jus and pipe a dot of mint gel on the plates later or just dollop it on with a spoon I'm not sure! Still - other than their choice of delivery courier - I am very pleased with it.

Oh and well done B on yesterdays winning newt. I remember taking a Rubiks cube on holiday to keep me occupied and finishing it (by chance) on the plane before we got there. Never managed to do it since though

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
