Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Last line - that's a particular challenge with Huawei as they default to stopping almost everything when the screen is off.

Isn't that an Android feature?
See all the kerfuffle around the Covid tracking app not staying awake!

There is a Keep Awake function surely?

I am Android but am unlikely to use the app. When I run it's with a watch. If it's there it's in a bag for emergencies. But good luck with the build Fetch. :-) G

I've occasionally used other apps - in particular an OS app - that records a route without the (android) phone being open all the time. So there will be a way somewhere.

To combine last 2 posts there from G & TR - I would imagine this could be useful for tracking walking routes for many runners. I would never use it for running data, as G says.... But I don't put my running watch on if I go for a walk on holiday , and this would be a handy hassle-free way to record those for looking back on when I've forgotten the details.

Happy G, I only want the app for emergencies having used the iPhone app earlier this year but now changed to android. If no Fetch app I'd probably download mapmywalk or some such thing to record distance and time so I could log it here manually. I don't want all singing and dancing just a working app to record the activity, distance, time and route.

.... and to present an alternative perspective... I'm too mean to splash out on a GPS watch, so I use my Android smart phone to record most of my running and cycling. I currently do this via the strava app (then export the GPX from strava and import into Fetch) - but would much rather do it with a Fetch app!

Sorry - that was an alternative perspective to :-) G, TR and PtB. Agree with FF that I just want the app to record activity/distance/time/route - no bells and whistles (can do that via the web site).

Ed, 50 quid for a second hand Garmin. You're probably saving yourself £50 of damage risk to your phone! But I've been a Garmin user for 11 years, so I'm probably biased!

I'm not saying there aren't dozens of Fetch uses for an app - all the folk who play Fetchpoint and Who Squares Wins more seriously and want to know when they've got to a certain place. Anyone who logs walks. Takes treasure hunt pics and want to upload immediately. Effectively the Pokémon Go equivalent in Fetch. I'm just saying I don't do any of the those things. I'm only one type of Fetchie though. Lots of other types out there, for sure! :-) G

PtB - logging walks is my use case - will continue using my garmin for runs
